EXHIBITION OPENING & BOOK RELEASE
JOHN ANDERSSON – CLOUD HOTEL
John Andersson (1960–2023) was a Swedish comic artist, painter and surrealist who lived most of his life on the ninth floor of a high-rise in the Stockholm suburb of Hagsätra. He was painting, drawing and making music on analog synths. John listened to his inner voice – sometimes many voices – and got his inspiration from sci-fi films, dreams and visions.
Cloud Hotel is the first collected edition of John Andersson’s comics in English. It contains three comic albums by John Andersson published in the early 90s – Gene, Fred & Judy (1992), Schneiderdushen / Bole Sole (1994) and Wig of Atlas (1994), as well as a selection of stand-alone stories in full color.
John Andersson passed away in 2023; he left on the Yellow Brick Road and forgot to leave the key to the secret back door. Friends and colleagues formed an association called John Andersson Vänner (Friends of John Andersson) to preserve and continue his artistic legacy. This book is published together with them and we hope that it will travel around the world, from Oz to the Ice Castle.
The exhibition at Kulturhuset Bergsjön celebrates the new book and shows original art from John’s early comics, as well as a brand new series of screen prints produced by Longest Night.
The opening will include a public discussion about John Andersson’s life and art with invited guests from the organization Friends of John Andersson – Niklas Nenzén, Mattias Forshage, Christofer Dahlby, Martin Halldin, Anna Ehrlemark m.fl.
Exclusively at the opening, Martin Halldin will play cassette tapes with original, never released, music by John Andersson.
The exhibition will be on view until January 10th, during the library’s regular opening hours.

EXHIBITION OPENING
ZVEN BALSLEV (CPH) – LULULUM
Unruly creatures flock imaginary covers of extraterrestrial fanzines, giant monster hands fumble precious gadgets and the noise band from outer space are endlessly touring dystopian fastfood joints – this is the stuff of dreams for thirsty collectors at the zine fair on Mars! Zven Balslev fell into the pot of punk zines as a child and now his hands are vibrating with eternal spark for awry, stubborn, obstinate DIY regalia, fighting off contemporary depression with one last brush stroke at a time. Draw to live, and print to circulate the virus.
Zven Balslev is a Copenhagen based artist and the founder of the print workshop and publisher Cult Pump. He works with various printmaking techniques and has a curious eye for publishing some of the most interesting underground, art brut, surrealist, comic art out there.
A new screen printed book by Zven Balslev published by Longest Night will be released at the opening.
