Screen printed poster by Yvan Guillo/Samplerman, from his Blue Sky collage series. This is the third graphic out of three, see the other two – Saturday on a Flying Pudding and Licking Horse’s Full Moon.
My narrative can be described as a dream of a story rather than as a story. Or simply like a dream, as everyone has experienced this kind of dream where the events don’t make sense whereas one can recognize some familiar element from the everyday life.
Samplerman earns his name as the greatest connoisseur and deconstructeur of vintage strips through masterly tripping together enchanting digital collages with carefully crafted pieces from the early history of print comics. The result is not only vimsical visual candy but also surrealist dreamscapes triggering emotional tunes and hidden messages from the past. Delicious layering of newsprint screen tones, rasters and textures from old faded pages translates beautifully back into hand crafted print in this series of three new screen prints published by Longest Night.
