Zamak je Zamka – The Castle is a Trap 1 and 2 are a new pair of screen prints by Serbian artist and printmaker Sofija Pašalić. The prints were created for her exhibition with the same name at Syntropia Art Space during the festival Den Längsta Natten 2025. The title refers to our contemporary obsession with security, a fad-fear that triggers self-induced entrapment. Safer than ever, but – the castle is a trap!
Sofija Pašalić is a print maker, illustrator, animator and member of the untameable art collective Matrijarišija in Belgrade, Serbia. She has studied graphic arts and bookmaking and is continuously pushing the creative boundaries of her craft. Her illustrations are fast, strong, playful, often dealing with people and their motions-emotions in our consumerist online landscape. Shoppers, robots, commercials, constant stream of impressions, live stream of images, contemporary life isn’t that bad – just stupid and impossible.
